Will the Colorado Avalanche repeat with another NHL Stanley Cup Championship? | News Article by Inspin.com

After beating the back-to-back champion, the Tampa Bay Lightning, last Sunday night, the Colorado Avalanche, at last, won the Stanley Cup 2022.

It was their major trophy win in 20 years after emerging victorious against the Lightning in the finals with a 2-1 victory.

Now, since it is very common in the NHL to repeat a championship back to back, as was the case of the Lightning in 2020 and 2021, many fans are hoping to see another trophy won next year by the Colorado Avalanche.

Judging by the low odds, many bettors are already up on their feet for next season to bet on the Avalanche again.

The Championship Win Usually Repeats

It has become very common in the NHL in recent years that a reigning champion usually ends up defending her title in the next season. It has happened with the Pittsburgh Penguins who ended up winning the title consecutively both in 2016 and 2017.

The same pattern was repeated by Tamba Bay Lightning by winning back to back in 2020 and 2021. And if they managed to defeat the Avalanche this season, they would have bagged a triple trophy win, making history on the way.

Therefore, it will not be surprising to see the Colorado Avalanche repeating its eye-catching win again in the next 2023 season. This is more so the case when they have the lowest odds at the moment and many bettors are eyeing for that.

The Team Has All the Star Powers

The Avalanche started as favorites in both the last season and Stanley Cup playoffs and won the NHL championship. This is more so when they never faced any point deficit in the entire postseason series. Besides, four of their players averaged more than a point per game in the playoffs.

Cale Makar led the Avalanche throughout the season with outstanding performance, winning Conn Smythe Trophy on the side and finishing third with 29 postseason points among all NHL players. Also, he is the third defensive player to win, in the same season, not just Conn Smythe trophy but also the prestigious Norris Trophy.

There are also Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, who combined, scored 49 points in the playoffs with amazing vigor and energy. And they are only 25 and 26!

With Makar, being only 23 years old, leading the team in the next season, and Rantanen and MacKinnon being in the same team as him, this youthful yet dominating team has a lot of potential to bag another victory next year.
