The North Texas Mean Green Eagles (2-1) will be facing off against a daunting opponent in the number four ranked Kansas Jayhawks (3-0) on Thanksgiving in the ESPN Events Invitational.
The Jayhawks are one of the top teams in the nation and are looking to add to their list of victims in North Texas, a foe that is a heavy underdog in this battle of midwestern teams.
There is one thing going for North Texas that gives them a sliver of hope — They have one of the top defenses in the nation so far, allowing only 52.7 points per game, which ranks them seventh in the nation in this category. They will need this in their favor to overcome a Jayhawks team that is beating opponents by nearly 23 points per game.
A team that is already strong will also be gaining even more strength in this contest, as the Jayhawks are welcoming back forward Jalen Wilson into the fold. The junior started all but one contest last season and is returning after serving a three-game suspension due to a DUI arrest earlier this year.
The odds are not in the Mean Green Eagles favor and this is reflected below.
Money line: Spread:
North Texas Mean Green: 900 North Texas Mean Green: 16.5
Kansas Jayhawks: -800 Kansas Jayhawks: -16.5
Your Mean Green face No. 4 Kansas on a national stage Thursday at 1:30 p.m. CT in the quarterfinals of the ESPN Events Invitational.
