The Los Angeles Lakers will travel north to take on the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers are having another underwhelming season and in 12th place in the Western Conference.
Their season looks bleak, but there is still time to turn it around. On the other side, the Kings are having a surprisingly strong season and in fifth place in the Western Conference.
The Lakers are on a three-game winning streak and coming off a 112-109 win against the Miami Heat. Los Angeles had a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and pulled out the victory behind Dennis Schroder’s heroics.
Schroder finished with 32 points (14 of which came in the final quarter). He was deadly from deep and went 4-7 from behind the three-point line.
The Kings are coming off a 120-117 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks led by three at halftime and maintained their lead for the next 24 minutes.
Domantas Sabonis, Harrison Barnes, De’Aaron Fox, and Kevin Huerter each finished with at least 20 points, and Sabonis also had 14 rebounds and eight assists. Sacramento shot well, but Atlanta did not miss many shots from the field. The Hawks hit over 53% of their shots and ⅓ of their three-point attempts.
This should be a fun game between two Pacific Division rivals, but I have to give the edge to the Kings. The Kings are healthier, playing at home, and the better overall team. It is also worth noting that LeBron James with be a game time decision. If he does not play, the Kings will run away with this game.
The Kings’ home-court advantage will come in very clutch for them this game. Sacramento is 11-8 at home, but, more importantly, they are facing a Lakers squad that is 8-13 on the road.
I have adequately explained why you should bet on the Kings, but if you are not convinced, I will add this. Neither team plays excellent defense, but the Kings are significantly better than the Lakers. Sacramento’s defense could use some work (they allow 116.8 points per game), but the Lakers allow 120.5 points per game on the road. Bet on Sacramento.
My Prediction: Kings 120, Lakers 111
