The Sacramento Kings will travel to the TD Garden to face the Boston Celtics in what may be the game of the day.
The Kings started the season on a four-game losing streak but turned it around and went on a seven-game winning streak before losing their previous game to the Atlanta Hawks 115-106. Sacramento is sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference.
The Boston Celtics are the league’s best team, sitting at 14-4. They are on a tear right now and have won ten of their last 11 games.
As I mentioned above, the Kings lost their last game to the Atlanta Hawks 115-106. Atlanta led by nine at the end of the first quarter; that was all they needed. Sacramento kept it even the rest of the way but could not make a run.
Malik Monk led all Kings players with 27 points off the bench. He went 12-18 overall and 3-7 from deep. Monk’s performance was promising, but the Kings lost because of the Hawks’ excellent free-throw shooting. Atlanta went 22-23 from the line.
The Celtics put together a strong performance on Wednesday night and won 125-112. Boston jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown played excellent basketball and combined for 68 points.
They shot a combined 24-42 from the field. The Celtics and Mavericks shot similarly well from the field, but the Celtics outshot Dallas from deep. Boston went 17-34, while the Mavericks shot 35.5%.
The Kings are playing great basketball, but the Celtics have the edge. This is largely because of the Celtics’ defense. The Celtics possess the top defense in the league and have the 2021-22 Defensive Player of the Year in Marcus Smart.
On the other side, the Kings have a decent defense but sit at tenth in the league. The Sacramento defense is not bad but leaves something to be desired.
In addition to the Celtics’ defense, they have home-court advantage. Boston is 7-1 at home and has not lost a game at the TD Garden in almost a month.
Boston is incredibly difficult to beat when they have their home fans on their side.
My Predictions: Boston 118, Sacramento 112
So how do you beat the juggernaut Celtics? From their 4 losses, it looks like you have two options. Get hot from 3, or hope the Celtics go cold from 3. More on tonight's Kings Celtics matchup with @will_zimmerle https://t.co/UttbtHqQt7
