The best conference in College basketball this season was far and away the Big 12 Conference. There are 6 teams that are an absolute lock to make the NCAA Tournament.
The Kansas Jayhawks are the number one seed, the Iowa State Cyclones are the 6th seed, and everyone in between is a lock for the big dance.
Those six teams spent the entire year beating each other up, and this tournament is going to be amazing theatre.
Kansas earned the number one seed and they will either start their run against either Baylor or Iowa State.
The Cyclones went to Baylor last weekend and they took down the Bears to solidify their spot in the NCAA Tournament. If they get a second straight win against Baylor, their midseason struggles may be forgotten.
On the other side of the bracket are Texas, Kansas State, and TCU, and they have all been extremely even this entire year. All three of them have a win against Kansas and Baylor this season.
The team that isn’t a lock that has a chance to beat some of the big dogs is Oklahoma State. They are currently on the outside looking in. They will need to get a victory against the Oklahoma Sooners and then a win against Texas to lock up a spot as well.

There is a chance that Texas Tech can catch one of these teams as well. They seem to be in turmoil, with their coach being suspended for reading a bible verse, that referenced servants and masters. West Virginia has some of the best wins in the country this year, but they have lost some brutal games.
They have a proven head coach in Bob Huggins, who could win a few games.
As for likely teams to win this tournament, the Baylor Bears have some of the best talent in the country. They are the 4 seed in the Big 12 tournament, and they could be a 4 in the NCAA tournament as well.
They have the best NBA prospect in the tournament, in Keyonte George. They face off against Iowa State in their first game, and if they avenge their loss they get the Jayhawks, who Bill Self said during their first meeting, “They are so much better than us.”

Kansas is the betting favorite ( 275), and they usually have a stranglehold on the Big 12. This tournament is wide open though.
Texas ( 350) was the highest-ranked team to start the season, and they have stayed the course despite their head coach getting fired early in the year.
I would have a hard time not taking the Baylor Bears ( 475) as they have the potential to be a final-four team. If they are to take that step, getting hot in Kansas City would be helpful. Kansas State ( 800) is a very interesting choice as well if you want to swing for the fences.
