The biggest game of week 2 of the NFL season is coming out of the AFC West. The San Diego Chargers are heading to Kansas City to take on the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
This Thursday Night Football game features two of the top quarterbacks in the league and two teams that are widely considered Super Bowl Favorites.
The Chiefs had an intriguing match-up in week one against the Cardinals, but that proved to be a farce as the Chiefs wiped the floor with them. Mahomes showed that he is still that dude without Tyreek Hill, throwing 5 touchdowns to 5 different wide receivers. The Charger’s number one corner, JC Jackson, is questionable.
That could lead to a few more big plays. Travis Kelce is still a dominant player. He and the rest of the weapons for the Chiefs are all wildly fast. They can get downfield or take a crosser to the house.
The Chargers are going into this game without their number one receiver with Keenan Allen being injured. That will lead to more looks for Mike William and running back Austin Ekeler. Justin Herbert is as talented as any signal caller in the world.
He is big, strong, fast, and has an unbelievable arm. In his two starts at Arrowhead, he has 7 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Ekeler has been a stand-out player since he took over the starting role a couple years ago. He is a game breaker at the running back position especially out of the backfield as a receiver. He will get the ball a ton on Thursday night.
The Chargers are going to offer much more resistance to the chiefs this weekend than the Cardinals did last week. The twosome of Joey Bosa and Kahlil Mack will get after Mahomes and give them a chance to get the ball. If the Chiefs are sloppy with the ball, the Chargers have a serious chance to win this football game.
