Tennessee at Georgia | News Article by Inspin.com

When the college football season began, I don’t believe any single person had the potential game of the year being when the Tennessee Volunteers head to Athens, GA to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

I’m sure if you got a single honest moment from Josh Heupel, Tennessee’s head coach, he wouldn’t have thought they would be in this position either.

However, this is where they are and they are the number-one-ranked team in America.

The third-ranked Georgia Bulldogs are the defending national champions and have the home-field advantage for this top 3 match-up on Saturday. They sport one of the nation’s best defenses that are loaded with Sunday talent for the second year in a row.

They will be put to the test by the best offense in the country. The Vols lead in yards and scoring this season. It is strength versus strength in this battle for SEC East Supremacy.

Georgia started the season ranked in the top 3 in every poll and started the season with a bang by dismantling the Oregon Ducks.

They have been very good this year, but there have been a couple of times this year when they haven’t looked like the dominant team that we anticipated, that is why they are currently ranked 3rd in the College Football Playoff rankings, along with only having one ranked win.

Tennessee overtook Georgia in the rankings by taking care of their elite schedule so far. Tennessee has poured it on a bunch of ranked teams already. They have taken down Alabama, LSU, and Kentucky, all of which have had good seasons so far and are fairly good defenses statistically.

The Georgia offense isn’t a slouch either. They rank 6th in points per game and 4th in total offense. They are led by very solid Stetson Bennett and all-world tight end Brock Bowers.

They have great skills in the backfield as well. Georgia can rush for 200 and pass for 300 against anyone, but this Tennessee defense has been pretty susceptible this season.

For this game to go the way that Georgia wants, they are going to have to be patient on offense and take their time. Tennessee has controlled the tempo in every game this season.

If Georgia can control the pace of the game with methodical drives, then Tennessee could get impatient and start pressing. Georgia being the defending champs gives them the confidence to not let this game get away from them, no matter what Tennessee does early on offense.

This is going to be an amazing game and could decide our national champion.

The INSPIN simulation model, which simulates every NCAAF game thousands’ of times, is up +38.5 units over the last three years. We have released 388 total games with 209 WINS and 179 losses ATS for a win % of 53.87%. A $100 bettor of our NCAAF would have netted a profit of $3,850 and, a $1,000 bettor would have won $38,500 just on the NCAAF picks.
