The Oklahoma City Thunder will travel to Chicago to face the Bulls on the road. Both of these teams are having underwhelming seasons. The Thunder are playing as I write this.
They have an 18-23 record and are in 13th place in the Western Conference. However, the Western Conference has a lot of parity, so Oklahoma City is only two games out of the eighth-place spot.
On the other side, the Bulls are in tenth place in the Eastern Conference at 19-23. Chicago still has time to make the Playoffs and is only three games out of the eighth-place spot.
The Thunder are coming off a 112-111 loss to the Miami Heat. The game came down to the wire, but the Heat won behind Jimmy Butler’s heroics and their insane free-throw shooting.
Miami broke an NBA record and shot 40-40 from the free-throw line. Even though the Thunder lost, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey still played well. Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 26 points, and Giddey had an 18-point, 15-rebound, ten-assist triple-double.
The Bulls are coming off a 100-97 loss to the Washington Wizards. Chicago had a 13-point lead at halftime, but the Wizards fought back and won by three. Zach LaVine finished with 38 points and shot 15-28 from the field.
These two teams shot similarly from the field, but the Bulls struggled to draw fouls. Chicago only went to the line nine times (and made six), while Washington went to the line 21 times (and made 17).
This game will be close, but I have to give it to the Bulls. The Bulls are coming off a day of rest, while the Thunder are playing the 76ers the night before. In addition, the Bulls’ home-court advantage will be instrumental in this game.
The Bulls could be better at home (they have an 11-9 record in Chicago). Conversely, the Thunder are horrendous on the road. Oklahoma City comes into this game with a 5-14 away record and have not won an away game in over a month.
Make no mistake, this game will be a close one, but the Bulls have the edge. Bet on Chicago.
